John Servis Wins the Roberto “Bobby” Velez Memorial Race
A luncheon was arranged for the celebration of life for Bobby, an incredible horseman employed for years by the Servis Family, who galloped famous horses like Spend a Buck when he achieved the highest purse of any horse to date in 1985. We are sure Bobby was helping give wings to Pretty Pants as she romped across the wire. Roberto Velez passed away on August 26, 2021, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn an entire backstretch full of family and friends.
