The Bucks County Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is responsible for the planning and implementation of a variety of services and programs to assist older adults and their families. It is the local agent of the PA Department of Aging, whose broad goal is to provide comprehensive services to help adults age 60+ maintain independence in their homes and communities. AAA’s priority consumers are those with the greatest needs and fewest resources.

The Bucks County Drug & Alcohol Commission, Inc. (BCDAC) serves as the Single County Authority for alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention, intervention and treatment and recovery support services. The mission of BCDAC, Inc. is to promote healthy individuals, families and communities, eliminate the misuse, abuse and/or addiction to alcohol, tobacco and other drugs and support those in recovery from addiction.

The mission of the Bucks County Opportunity Council is to reduce poverty and partner with the community to promote economic self-sufficiency.

The Council of Southeast Pennsylvania, Inc. provides a wide range of services to reduce the impact of addiction and improve related health issues for the entire community including families, schools, businesses, individuals and the community, regardless of ability to pay, ethnicity, race, gender, age or sexual orientation.

HealthLink Dental Clinic is a free dental clinic serving uninsured, low-wage earning adults in Bucks and Montgomery Counties, with a mission to concentrate efforts and resources entirely on providing high quality, free dental care to those who could not otherwise afford it.

The mission of the Health Federation of Philadelphia is to improve access to and quality of health and human services for underserved and vulnerable populations.

Bringing into focus the School of Nursing and Health Sciences’ commitment to its Philadelphia community, the La Salle Neighborhood Nursing Center has offered health education and health promotion services for more than 20 years. Staffed by nurses and social workers, the center contributes to local health fairs, offers immunization programs and screenings, and provides information on resources and referrals to connect children, adults, families, and senior citizens with the services they need. The center also participates in a long-running outreach program, Nursing at the Backstretch, at Parx Racing in Bensalem, Pa., for uninsured or underinsured migrant racetrack workers. Public health nurses and La Salle undergraduate and graduate nursing students provide immunizations, screenings, and other health-promotion and disease-prevention services.

St. Mary Medical Center is a regular visitor on the backstretch of Parx Racing, and nurses often partner with the twice-weekly La Salle Neighborhood Nursing Center for the Nurses at the Backstretch clinic. In addition, St. Mary also provides several programs for uninsured and underinsured patients, including the St. Mary Family Resource Center, which is designed to eliminate barriers to literacy, employment, healthcare, housing and other necessities of daily life. Several other programs are also featured below.

St. Mary Children’s Health Center provides primary healthcare services for children newborn to age 18. This includes well visits, sick visits, and follow-up care – whether insured or uninsured.

At St. Mary Mother Bachmann Maternity Center, women have access to the health care they need regardless of their ability to pay. This is the only maternity clinic of its kind in Bucks County. Certified nurse midwives provide obstetrical care to women who are uninsured and under-insured.

The YWCA Bucks County is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all, and is committed to the empowerment of, community-based service to, and partnership with women, girls and families in need.
