Parx’s Highlights 10/10 – 10/14

We had fun in the mud at Parx Racing this past week! We kicked off our Monday card: “Honoring the Best of 2019” with our Horsemen’s Awards. The ’19 Breeder’s Cup Dirt Mile winner Spun To Run took top honors and was declared a “horse of a lifetime” by trainer Juan Carlos Guerrero and owner Bob Donaldson. 

Our ’19 Winningest Horse – Fix Me a Sandwich, put up another great win for his connections owner John Fanelli & trainer Joe Taylor with regular jockey Frankie Pennington aboard.

Our darling Vequist ran a game 2nd in the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes at Belmont Park for trainer Butch Reid & owners Gary Barber, Wachtel Stable & Swilcan Stable with top jockey Luis Saez in the irons. It’s now on to the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile Stakes for 2 year old fillies at Keeneland on the first weekend in November. 

Parx Racing Hall of Fame trainer Kate DeMasi had a training hat trick this Wednesday, winning 3 races at 3 different tracks. Cinnabunny won at Parx, Sunflower Girl won at Monmouth Park & Rio Abajo won at Penn National. 

Parx Racing Hall of Fame trainer Guadalupe Preciado is just 3 wins away from hitting the 2,000 win milestone achievement after this week’s PTHA Trophy Race with Hibachi! He ran 3rd with his other entry Ronin Warrior both for longtime owner Nicholas Cammarano,Jr. and the tension continues to build!

Thatta Boy Girl gets her 18th lifetime win this week at Parx with jockey Wilfredo Garcia. Thatta Boy Girl is a 7 yr old chestnut mare by Parading trained by Juan Carlos Guerrero and owner Dana Grimaldi.

PA Bred Johnny Ritt ran 2nd in the Jersey Shore Stakes on Wednesday, 10/14/20 at Monmouth Park for trainer Butch Reid & owners Cash Is King LLC & LC Racing with jockey Chris DeCarlo.

Our Parx Racing leaders are pulling away in the standings in all 3 categories. As of today –

Jockey Mychel Sanchez is our leading rider with 455 starts – 100 wins – 73 seconds – 72 thirds with earnings $2,628,664.

Trainer Jamie Ness has 218 starts – 72 wins – 44 seconds – 43 thirds with $1,672,278 in earnings.

Owner Jagger, Inc has 85 starts – 31 wins – 13 seconds – 17 thirds with $607,888 in earnings. 

PA Bred Dreamer’s Moon is our leading horse with 7 starts – 5 wins – 1 third with $146,990 in earnings. Trained by Claudio Gonzalez & owned by MCA Racing Stable LLC 

Jockey Anthony Nunez is still in the ICU but improving daily. He’s had surgeries to his jaw and will need rehabilitation for his head/jaw injuries. His family sincerely appreciates the support from this community and the donations to his Go Fund Me account.
