Bisono Seriously Hurt in Freak Accident Monday

Veteran jockey John Bisono remains hospitalized as of Saturday morning following a freak accident after the third race here at Parx Monday afternoon. Having just finished second aboard In Equality, Bisono was unseated from his mount in the gallop out and fell. Details of the incident are sketchy. He sustained five broken ribs, a collapsed lung and a bruised kidney. He’ll be out of action for “two to three months” according to his agent Jim Boulmetis.

A long time mainstay in the jockey’s room here, Bisono had just returned to riding here after a stint in the Midwest at Prairie Meadows and Remington. The 46 year-old Puerto Rican native has amassed over 1,000 career wins in North America after beginning his career as a star in Puerto Rico, winning more than 30 stakes.
