Trolley Ride Comes Back to Win at Parx
The Eshleman’s homebred Trolley Ride, trained by Bernie Houghton, stumbled badly out of the gate in the 2019 Plum Pretty Stakes, sat, split foes and just missed getting to the winner, Trace of Grace, earning black type for placing. In this year’s PA Day at the Races she was all caught up in traffic in the Mrs. Penny Stakes going long on the turf and finished off the board. The excitement played out Wednesday as she redeemed herself at Parx two weeks later with a brilliant finish with Mychel Sanchez on the dirt in the 8th race for $50,000 Allowance Optional Claiming, paying a cheeky 11.80 over Honor Way, Dreamer’s Moon, and finally, Trace of Grace. Her earnings brought her into the top three in the country for the day with 8 wins and lifetime earnings of $258,314.
