Parx Racing is Back!

Parx opened its gates to racing personnel, judges, jockeys, trainers and grooms in order to safely allow live racing to run beginning June 22, 2020. The first three days of racing came with summer heat, blue skies and added safety measures for all. While it is agreed that most of the horsemen have been showing up to train and care for their horses throughout the COVID-19 quarantine, live racing does present additional interactions, and protocol were put in place by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Pennsylvania Racing Commission to promote social distancing measures as a top priority. Horsemen worked through changes imposed by the the track management and together we returned to the exciting and profitable game that we love.

The PTHA has worked throughout the epidemic to support the Horsemen with uninterrupted representation, training, benefits, assistance and attention to the needs of its membership. Problem solving is our job. With that in mind, the ability to continue to safely race and welcome our Owners and Patrons back is the next hurdle. Plans to resume claiming races, turf racing, and fans are in the works to begin on Monday, July 6th at Parx Racing! Enjoy your Fourth of July holiday weekend at home, and then come celebrate live racing with us on Monday!

To enjoy watching our horses run, parxracing.com airs live racing and supports Phonebet so you can place a bet from your phone, an app, or your computer. Even when you come back to parx next week to enjoy the excitement of watching them run, you may appreciate the ease of betting from your device. Craig Donnelly has been posting his Parx racing analysis, so you can be assured of the best tip of the day. Information on entries, workouts, and current events is being updated on this PTHA website while it is receiving a much needed overhaul. Our Director of Publicity, Dani Gibson, has been on the rail every day capturing the best of Live Racing and offering refreshment to those running horses and running the show frontside. You can visit our social media and Youtube for timely interviews, post parades and behind the scenes glimpses that the PTHA is working hard to bring for you.

New health and safety precautions may limit some of the amenities we used to enjoy, but they are necessary for the safety of all. Wear a mask while on parx property, respond to temperature checks and respect signage designed to make everyone aware of the social distancing guidelines put in place. Be patient with each other, and enjoy some great days at the races! We are grateful for the overwhelming support, patience, and understanding from our Horsemen as we navigate these unprecedented times. Race to the Winner’s Circle!!
