PARX/PTHA Spring Starter Series 2022

Parx Racing and the Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association, (PTHA), are pleased to announce the creation of the first Parx/PTHA Spring Starter Series.

The series offers both sprint and route divisions for horses three years old and upward, of both sexes, which have started for $8,000 or less in the past two years.

The series will offer bonus money to both the owner and trainer of the horse that accumulates the most points in each separate division, $5,000 for 1st, $2,500 for 2nd, $1,000 for 3rd (see Parx/PTHA Spring Starter Series Rules and Regulations for details).

PARX/PTHA Spring Starter Series 2022

Rules and Regulations*

Points:

Points will be assigned to horses that are declared starters in each Spring Starter Series race as follows:

1st = 10 points

2nd = 5 points

3rd = 3 points

4th = 2 points

5th to last = 1 point

Points earned by a horse in each particular division will be totaled at the end of the Series to determine the distribution of Bonus Money

Bonus Points:

5 bonus points will be given to any horse that runs in all three legs of a particular division

Loss of Points:

Any horse in the body of race, not including AEs, that is scratched for any reason will lose points as follows: LEG I SCRATCH -1 point, LEG II SCRATCH -3 points, LEG III SCRATCH -5 points

Preference:

LEG I – preference will be determined as follows: i) horses with 4 or more wins, ii) horses with 3 wins, iii) horses with two wins, iv) horses with 1 win, v) maidens, if horses should have equal preference, preference will be determined by the luck of the draw

LEG II & LEG III – preference will be determined as follows: i) horses with the highest total number of points preferred, should a race overfill and horses have an equal number of points, preference will be determined by the luck of the draw, ii) horses with 4 or more wins, iii) horses with 3 wins, iv) horses with two wins, v) horses with 1 win, vi) maidens, if horses should have equal preference based on their number of wins, preference will be determined by the luck of the draw, horses with negative points least preferred 

Weights:

The winner in the LEG I and/or LEG II races of any particular division will carry the age specified weight and an additional two pounds in any subsequent LEGs.

Should a horse win both the LEG I and LEG II races of any particular division, this horse will carry the age specified weight and an additional four pounds in LEG III of that same division

Bonus Money:

Bonus money will be paid to both the owner and trainer of the horses that earn the 1st, 2nd and 3rd highest total points in each particular division as follows: 1st ($5,000), 2nd ($2,500), 3rd ($1,000)

Should there be a tie in points between horses for Bonus Money, preference will be determined as follows: i) horses that ran in the most legs of a particular division preferred, ii) should a tie still exist, Bonus Money distribution will be determined by the luck of the draw
