Parx horsemen had a successful weekend at Pimlico in stakes races, when the eyes of the nation were focused on the Baltimore, Maryland racing oval to see if Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome would be triumphant in the Preakness. Highlighted by Swilcan Stables’ Vero Amore running second in the G2 Black-Eyed Susan, trainers from Parx also had a number of other competitors hit the board.

John Servis sent out Joint Return to a fourth-place finish in the Black-Eyed Susan, and watched Stormy Novel run a valiant second in the Miss Preakness Stakes just one race later.

Mike Aro saddled seven-year-old Winning Image in the Skipat Stakes, where the chestnut mare encountered a wet racing surface for the first time, yet still hung on for third.

And on Saturday, Guadalupe Preciado and West Point Thoroughbreds successfully sent out Quality Lass to a third-place finish in her first start of the year, the five furlong The Very One Stakes on turf.
