Shane Alley, his wife Kit Alley, and their four children own and operate Harmony Hill Stables. Both Shane and Kit were raised in the rural mid-west (MO, KS, and OK) and have had a lifetime passion for riding and training horses for western disciplines. Harmony Hill Stables is both a full and pasture board facility and through one of their boarding clients who owned a thoroughbred were able to see firsthand how athletic a thoroughbred could be and grew to love the breed. While at a breeders event at Parx Racing in the fall of 2015, Kit and Shane made contact with Turning for Home and went through the application process to become a partner farm. Since becoming a partner farm, Shane has adopted Summer Time Ranger from the program and has been successful in competing in the local Hunter Pace competitions on Summer Time Ranger.
Through their partnership with Turning For Home and their hands-on approach, Shane, Kit, and their four children have been able to create new routines and lives for the Turning for Home off-track Thoroughbreds (OTTB’s) after their racing careers have ended by giving the OTTB’s chances to succeed in other competitive and non-competitive second careers. In addition to adopting Summer Time Ranger into their family, Kit and Shane have been able to rehab, train, and find forever homes for three other OTTB’s.
