Dark Horse Farm is a small farm in Ballston Spa, NY, just minutes away from Saratoga Springs, the mecca of American horse racing. It is nestled on 18 acres in a rural setting. Amenities include a spacious outdoor riding ring, well-lit indoor arena for winter riding, numerous individual turnout paddocks, and 2 separate run out barns that can be accessed by four separate paddocks.
Owner Heather Mason’s focus for the past 8 years has been retraining thoroughbred horses for successful careers off the track. She has rehomed numerous retired racehorses and many are competing successfully in hunter, jumper, dressage, western pleasure, and eventing. Heather currently shows both hunters and jumpers as well as dabbling in dressage. She had the amazing opportunity to show at the Retired Racehorse Project in 2017 and is looking forward to competing again in 2018. Her mount from 2017 placed 18th in the very competitive show hunter division after retiring from the track just several months prior to the event. She is now a successful children’s hunter (3’) on the local show circuit with her competitive 12-year-old rider.
