Obituary of John J Fenton

Our Parx family lost a long-time friend and smiling face last week. John Fenton was a true horseman and always had a smile and shout-out for his friends. We will miss his laughter on the backside.

John J. Fenton, 69, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 John was born August 26, 1951, to Arthur and Reta Fenton in Kingston Jamaica. He was the only child born to this couple. John Fenton attended Trench Town Comprehensive High School, Kingston Jamaica, where he was an exceptional soccer player. John also played for Georgetown Soccer Club alongside some of Jamaica’s finest players. His exceptional ability earned him a scholarship to attend George Mason University in the United States during the ’70s. Unfortunately, while playing for George Mason University, John sustained an injury that ended his soccer career. John then moved to Boston where he was introduced to and fell in love with the Horse Racing world. John worked at many racetracks as a groom and it was evident that he really loved the sport and he was excellent at his job. Everyone enjoyed working with and learning from John. He always brings his smile, his knowledge of horses which he was always eager to share, and his enthusiasm to the barn. John left to mourn, his wife Donna, his son Sean Fenton, his daughter’s, Jennifer Kidawa, Tiffany Fenton, Brittany Fenton, 10 grandchildren, and a slew of friends from the track that he called family
