Hello Lover Named Parx Racing 2012 Horse of the Year

Parx Racing’s 2012 Horsemen’s Awards Banquet on March 20, honored Kasey K Racing Stable and Brier Creek Farm’s Hello Lover as its Horse of the Year. The 7-year-old gelding also earned trophies for Leading Older Gelding, Winningest Horse, Claiming Horse of the Year, and Outstanding Claim of the Year.
The annual event, lauded as a “night of excellence” by PTHA Executive Director Michael Ballezzi, played out in front of a crowd of nearly 300 horsemen in Parx clubhouse with cocktails, dinner, dancing, and a Chinese Auction, proceeds benefitting the PTHA’s Granny Youman’s Scholarship Fund, and Turning For Home, the retirement program for racehorses.
Among the Outstanding Individuals for 2012 was third time leading trainer Phil Aristone, and leading owner Jack Armstrong, winning the title for the second year in a row. Angel Arroyo won Leading Jockey, and Leading Apprentice was Angel Suarez, who was a runner up for an Eclipse Award this year.
