The $1 million Pennsylvania Derby (GI), a marquee race on the calendar for three-year-olds, will return after a one-year hiatus due to the pandemic. Racing fans across America will get to watch the country’s top sophomores meet up one final time before facing older rivals in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (GI) which will be held this year at Del Mar. The Pennsylvania Derby (GI) boasts a storied history and past winners include Eclipse Award winner Will Take Charge (2013) and Breeders’ Cup Classic champion Bayern (2014).
The star-studded event will be held on Saturday, September 25 alongside eight other stakes races on both turf and dirt, five of which are graded, including the $1 million Cotillion Stakes (GI) for three-year-old fillies.
