Turning for Home is a 501(c)(3) non-profit group sponsored by the Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association that has provided nearly 2,500 retiring racehorses with a safe retirement since its inception.

At Parx Racing, we truly do take care of our own. Unlike most retirement and rescue programs, 85% of our funding comes from the Parx horse owners and jockeys, the PTHA, racetrack management, and the PA Horse Breeders Association. We also accept donations.

Turning for Home horses are thoroughly evaluated before they are even offered for adoption. They have been examined by at least three veterinarians, and when they are ready for adoption, our partner farms work carefully with potential adopters to find the right match.

Each of our partner farms conducts their own application approval process, although many use our Turning for Home sample application. Visit our Partner Farms page to learn more.
