Leading Owner
Jagger Inc.,named after Jamie Ness’s beloved dog, started in 2006 and is one of the top ownership groups in the game. In 2020, he had 129 starts with an incredible 42 wins, 23 seconds, 24 thirds, and $825,626 in earnings, winning at 33% at Parx Racing. Some of Jagger’s all-time money earners are Sneaking Uponyou, Ghost Hunter, Our Super Freak & Shane’s Jewel

Leading Trainer
Jamie Ness is a graded stakes winning trainer, and had a remarkable 2020 at Parx Racing with 354 starts and a stellar record of 109 wins, 70 seconds, 65 thirds, and earnings of $2,456,216, winning at 31%. Ness started training in 1999 and has put up incredible numbers each year consistently, putting him at the top! He was also ranked 5th in the country for wins in 2020.

Leading “B” Trainer
Robert Mosco has always had a small but extremely competitive barn here at Parx Racing, where he began training in 1992. 2020 was one of his best years with 139 starts, 16 wins, 29 seconds, 23 thirds, and $604,249 in earnings with a 12% win percentage. Some of Bobby’s top horses have been Deal Driven, Courtage, Blue Light Special & Admiral Abe all hitting earnings of $200K or over.

Leading Jockey
Mychel Sanchez had a knockout 2020, riding 624 races with 131 wins, 87 seconds, 95 thirds and an incredible $3,363,576 in earnings with a 21% win percentage.  He won several stakes, including the Pennyslvania Nursery Stakes on Fire’s Finale, Mrs. Penny Stakes on It’s A Journey, and the Dr. Teresa Garofalo Memorial Stakes on Pink Caddy

Leading Apprentice Jockey
Gerardo Milan started his apprentice year in 2019-2020, with 289 starts, 34 wins, 25 seconds, 33 thirds, and $728,896 in earnings, winning at 12%. His top horses were Fran’s Worrier, Miami Tiger, Dreamer’s Moon & Koan

Horse of the Year
Madam Meena, a PA Bred bay filly by Include out of Good Tidings by Came Home was as tough as they get in her 3-year-old year with an impressive record of 12 starts, 7 wins, 2 seconds, 2 thirds, and capturing earnings of $221,740 for owner/breeder Michael Cox and trainer Jamie Ness. She won the Tax Free Shopping Distaff Stakes at Delaware Park, and was 3rd in the Malvern Rose Stakes at Presque Isle Downs.


2-Year-Old Male
Kidnapped, a beautiful PA Bred gray gelding by Violence out of Bai Bai Baby by Unbridled’s Song, is bred/owned by Main Line Racing Stable & trained by John Servis. Kidnapped had a great, consistent 2-year-old racing season, winning at the Maiden Special Weight condition his 2nd start. He also had a close finishing 2nd in the Pennsylvania Nursery Stakes. 

3-Year-Old Female
Aegean Sea was bred in PA by Marshall Gramm & Clay Sanders for owner Ten Strike Racing, and trained by Juan Carlos Guerrero. Aegean Sea is a bay filly by Strong Mandate out of Santorini Moon by Malibu Moon who broke her maiden at Parx Racing in a Maiden Special Weight in her 3rd start. She then went on to get 3rd in the Shamrock Rose Stakes at Penn National for her connections.

PTHA Board Member Kate DeMasi presents the award for Champion 3 Year Old Male to trainer John Servis and owner Patricia Chapman of Someday Farm, who accepted on behalf of their horse Dreams Untold.

3-Year-Old Male
Dreams Untold, a proud homebred of Someday Farm in Pennsylvania and trained by John Servis, is by the Kentucky Derby & Preakness winning sire Smarty Jones out of Shootforthestars by the great Seattle Slew. Dreams Untold had a great 2020 year at the track, winning 4 out of his 8 starts that year by being a dominate force in our Allowance condition with some blistering speed figures of up to 106 this chestnut gelding shows a lot of heart like his great sire.

Older Male
Flat Out Beautiful, a stunning dark bay gelding by Flat Out, was a $20,000 claim from Churchill Downs back in 2019 for owners Morris Kernan, Jr. and Yo Berbs. Flat Out Beautiful is now owned by Jagger Inc as well, and was trained by Jamie Ness with 5 wins and earnings of $119,050 in 2020.

Older Female
It’s a Journey was a $35,000 claim back in 2019 at Parx Racing for owners Gap View Stables, Jagger Inc., and trainer Jamie Ness. She’s a dark bay mare bred in PA by the late great sire Jump Start out of Lovely Senorita by Not For Love. She won 6 races in 2020, including the Mrs. Penny Stakes on the turf, giving her earnings of $187,260.

PTHA Board Member Phil Aristone presents the award for Outstanding Claim of the Year to trainer Robert Mosco. Stefcon Racing’s Admiral Abe was the winner.

Outstanding Claim of the Year
Admiral Abe was a $25,000 in January 2020 for new owner StefCon Racing and trainer Robert Mosco. He won his new connections an impressive 2 wins, 2 seconds, and 3 thirds. One of the 3rd place finishes was in the Marshall Jenney Handicap at Parx Racing. The chestnut gelding was bred in PA by White Diamond Inc and Five Ring Stables by Midshipman out of Precious Penny by Harlan’s Holiday. This speedy 5-year-old has run speed figures well over the 100’s, and is one of the fastest horses at Parx Racing.

PTHA Board Member Phil Aristone presents the award for Claiming Horse of the Year to trainer Herold Whylie. Emerald Racing Stable LLC’s Salsita Roja was the winner.

Claiming Horse of the Year
Salsita Roja had an unstoppable 2020, winning all 6 of her starts for trainer Herold Whylie and owner Emerald Racing Stable LLC. She is a 5-year-old bay mare bred in Florida by sire Two Step Salsa out of Caitrionell by Giant’s Causeway.  

PTHA Board Member Edward Coletti, Jr., presents the award for Winningest Horse to trainer Herold Whylie. Emerald Racing Stable LLC’s Salsita Roja was the winner.
