Ben’s Cat Now A Multi-Millionnaire
Not a single horse in the nation digs in deeper than Ben’s Cat when he hits the top of the stretch. Dirt or turf, it doesn’t matter; Ben’s Cat puts every bit of heart on the line in every single race. That was no different on Saturday, July 12th at Parx Racing. Ben’s Cat entered the Grade 3 Parx Dash as two-time defending champion, and he would not be denied a three-peat. The eight-year-old nearly black gelding put his head down and charged down the middle of the turf course, as usual making everyone hold their breath as they wondered if he could get up in time to take a 27th career victory. Sure enough, Ben’s Cat snatched the win by a whisker over Tightend Touchdown, who was in turn a nose ahead of Marchman.
The victory propelled Ben’s Cat over the $2 million-mark in lifetime earnings for owner The Jim Stable and trainer King Leatherbury. He was ridden to victory by regular rider Julian Pimentel.
