Biography: Walter Reese established Timber Creek Farm where he and his wife Cynthia, also a trainer, live in Robbinsville, NJ. Reese began training in 1963, and raced many of his homebreds, including stakes winners O.K. By You and Pal’s Partner. In 1987, his Timber Creek Farm was home to a yearling, later named Black Tie Affair, which Reese broke and trained to win the Malus Stakes for two-year-olds at Philadelphia Park, then sold for $125,000. Black Tie Affair went on to earn over $3 million and become Horse of the Year after winning the Breeders’ Cup Classic in 1991. In 1996, he saddled Whirlaway S. winner Devil’s Honor to a victory in the PA Derby for owners Al and Noreen Carpenito. Although the Timber Creek horses now run under Cynthia’s name, Reese continues to take an active role in training and breeding.
