Biography: Jeff Lloyd rode races for 36 years, winning 60 stakes races at 14 different tracks. Born in Oxford, Wisconsin, he came from a racing family, riding at bush tracks in his home state and in Minnesota where the riders had to pick up car parts from the previous evening’s auto races before galloping their horses. He began his career in parimutual racing at Waterford Park, now called Mountaineer, in West Virginia, but spent most of his career riding at Penn National and Philadelphia Park, earning four riding titles. In 1982, he won 281 races, the most he achieved in a single year. He ended his career after a bad spill at Philadelphia Park in August 2008, and 14 months later began working as a steward back at Mountaineer. He and his wife, Terri, have two daughters, Jessica and Nicole.
