Anthony Black

Biography: Born in 1951 in Mt. Holly, N.J., Tony Black is the nephew of former jockey Sam Boulmetis, a 1973 inductee into the Racing Hall of Fame. At the age of 18, Black won at Liberty Bell with his first mount, Stand By Me, which paid $154. Black has always been an advocate for the local jockey colony, and is President of the Philadelphia Park Jockey Association.
Career Highlights: Won the PA Derby in 1996 and the Cotillion S. in 1977. Holds the record for most consecutive wins: in a two-day span won 9 at two different tracks. Rode Champions My Juliet, What A Summer and Candy Eclair. Won his 5,000th race in 2006. Rode in the International Jockey Series in Seoul, Korea in 2008.
