
2019 Horsemen’s Awards at Parx Racing
Columbus Day 2020 began dark and dreary with the threat of heavy afternoon rain showers, but this was the 2019 Horsemen’s Awards Day.
It was clear that the enthusiasm and excitement of the day could not be dampened by the weather, for David Osojnak, Parx Racing’s Racing Secretary, put together an outstanding card of ten races. Congratulations David and Parx Racing! Also, special thanks to PTHA’s Danielle Montgomery and Dani Gibson for their exceptional hard work in putting together an extra special awards day, despite 2020’s trials.
The ten races were showcased for the 2019 Horsemen’s Awards, beginning with the first race which was won by Kirwan Equine Group Inc. & Happy Got Lucky Stables, Inc.’s Gypsy Wife and Parx leading trainer Jamie Ness.
Shortly after, PTHA Board Trainer/Director Kate Demasi presented the Outstanding 2 Year Old Male trophy to trainer Robert “Butch” Reid, Jr. on behalf of owners Cash is King LLC & LC Racing’s Monday Morning QB, as well as the Outstanding 2 Year Old Female trophy to trainer Randy Allen on behalf of Club Risqué Stable and Gregory Quick’s Pink Caddy.
The Outstanding 3 Year Old Male award was presented by PTHA Board Trainer/Director Ed Coletti to Juan Carlos Guerrero on behalf of owner Robert Donaldson’s G1 Breeder’s Cup winner, Spun To Run. Also, the Outstanding 3 Year Old Female trophy was presented to trainer Jamie Ness on behalf of Gap View Stable & Jagger Inc.’s Gotta Be Strong.
Outstanding Older Male went to Someday Jones, John Servis trainer. PTHA Board Trainer/Director Robert “Butch” Reid, Jr. presented the trophy to owners Mainline Stables and Alexandria Stable as well as Outstanding Older Female, won by Wildcat Combat, trainer Miguel Penaloza, owner Lyno Maraspin.
The Outstanding Claim of the Year trophy was presented by PTHA Board Owner Director/Treasurer Charles Asensio to trainer Jamie Ness on behalf of owners Gap View Stables & Jagger Inc.’s Gotta Be Strong.
Also, Claiming Horse of the Year was awarded to John Fanelli and Fix Me A Sandwich, trainer Joe Taylor, trophy presentation by Charles Asensio.
The Winningest Horse trophy was presented to Fix Me a Sandwich by PTHA Board Trainer Director John Servis, owner John Fanelli and trainer Joe Taylor.
Top honors for the 2019 Horsemen’s Awards went to Horse of the Year, Spun To Run. The HOY trophy was presented by Parx’s Louis Santoro, Jr. and PTHA First Vice President Owner/Director Steve Appel to owner Robert Donaldson and trainer Juan Carlos Guerrero.
Other outstanding achievements were also recognized on the Parx Live Racing feed thanks to help from Rich Romano and Parx Racing’s Production team, accompanied by recap videos produced by Bruce Casella of PTHA’s Let’s Go Racing Parx.
