“I was one of those that said I would NEVER own another mare, and would absolutely NEVER own a thoroughbred. But I still decided to make the two-hour trip to check out this horse, a mare and a thoroughbred. I had the opportunity to ride Mischief during my visit, and let me just say, we clicked from the beginning! I came back home and discussed with my husband and he reminded me of the statement, I would NEVER own a thoroughbred. Well, I decided to take the chance, and a week later went and picked up Mischief and brought her home. It is a decision I have yet to regret. Mischief has changed all the misconceptions I had about thoroughbreds. They can be awesome riding partners. Mischief is calm, cool, and collected, and has turned into my trusty trail riding partner. She will go anywhere I point her. She is a gem! She has given “pony” rides to small children, and my niece now “fights” me to ride her because Mischief can run fast. My other horse, a paint, is not very fast! Mischief has been a blessing to me. She calls out to me every day when I go to the pasture and is the first one there to meet me. I cannot say enough about this wonderful horse, and I am thankful every day I took a chance on her. And Turning for Home and After the Races do a tremendous job in rehoming these wonderful animals and giving them a second chance. Nobody likes the thought of losing a beloved horse, but if the time comes again that I am in the market for another riding partner, I will definitely consider adopting another thoroughbred! If it weren’t for the limited space and my limited funds, I would have adopted hundreds by now! I don’t know where Mischief got her start, but I am so very thankful she finally ended up with me!” -Sue Ellen S.
