“Reward the Lady (her barn name is “Pippa”) is such a sweet girl and lots of fun. She is very willing and eager to work. She enjoys going out on trails and is definitely not a spooky horse. There is a tarp on the farm in the area that we call the “play area”, where we work the horses. The first time I rode her to it, she just looked down, sniffed it and walked right over it as if she had always done it.

Pippa is very playful. She is the youngest in the herd of five geldings. She has so much energy and gets the others into playing, including the “old timers”. She gets along with each of the horses, the chickens and turkeys. She has also befriended the farm’s pet pig.

I am the leader of a 4H Horse Club and one of my older members used her as her project last year. The ring at the 4H center has grass in the middle and a gravel track around the outside. She had never been here before. When we brought her there for the show, she saw the horses, trailers and people and heard the loudspeaker, she was quite excited. When we brought her down to the ring, she thought she was going to race. She didn’t do anything dangerous. She showed lots of eagerness and energy and trotted circles around the 4Her. She did eventually settle down enough to be shown in hand. When she had to stand still in line, she just had to keep moving. The judge noticed this and realized that she was probably recently off the track.

Pippa is a very fast learner. She tries to figure out the new lessons to learn. Her favorite thing to do is her flexion exercises All I do is walk to her side and she just does it on her own. Due to my schedule, and in the winter, the shorter days, I don’t get as much time to work with her as I would like.” -Brigita M.
