“Murphy’s Storm (Dani) is doing GREAT. She’s having a little down time now because of winter but I am looking forward to springtime and horse shows! She is so sweet–as you know. She is out with a pony gelding and has gelding friends in the next pasture. She loves to be groomed and fussed over. She is exactly how the farm described her. No surprises. I really like After the Races and would buy another horse from there in a heartbeat.

I brought Dani home at the beginning of April. She had some time to hang out and adjust to everything. I started to take her for hand walks up the road (dirt road) and slowly started riding in my ring (my ring is at the top of a big hill and has no fencing). I spent the majority of the summer trail riding which she LOVES. I didn’t want to ride in the ring too much before building up her balance and muscles. Dani is super brave. I still can’t believe it. Not much bothers her at all! One of the first days she was here, my husband had taken a blue tarp off something and it was just laying in the driveway. We walked up to it, walked on it, and she let me rub it on her neck and side. Large machinery–no problem. UPS truck–no problem!

I started jumping her a little. I don’t think she is too impressed with little x-rails and 2′ verticals. I jumped a few logs on the trail and she makes much more of an effort! I took her on a Fall Foliage ride at GMHA this fall. 10 miles! She was fantastic. We mostly walked but did some trotting and jumped some of the little natural jumps. People kept commenting on how pretty she is and couldn’t believe she’s a 4 year old OTTB mare!

I am a show hunter rider, so that is the direction Dani will be heading. We will go to the GMHA shows and some of the NHHJA shows this year. We will start out by just hanging out and doing some pleasure classes and see where it takes us.

Thanks for following up, and for taking the time to rehab Dani!” -Marin H.
