How to Help

Helping to secure the futures of the Turning for Home retirees is easy!  If adopting one of our beautiful horses is not in your plans, then there are many other ways in which you can support our efforts.

TFH volunteers

We are always looking for people who feel that they can contribute in any way. Our volunteers truly care about our cause, and work with us on many levels in order to help. Our volunteers assist with fundraising both in the grandstand on big race days and also at local outreach events!

If you are interested in donating your time to assist the retiring racehorses of Turning for Home, please reach out to our for more information.

Donate

We also receive donations from the general public, which range from $10 to well over $1,000. In addition, many companies offer matching gift donations that are made by their employees. Every donation that we receive is used to assist our horses, especially since surgical care and rehab for just one horse could be over $5,000 by the time he is adopted.

When you are making a donation, donate-by-checkyou help our horses in so many different ways, including:

$750 – Surgery to remove chips in a knee or ankle or put screws into a fracture.  These surgeries, done for us at cost, help insure a horse’s soundness for a new career

$500 – One month of care at one of our partner farms, which includes feed, turnout, rehab or re-training, and plenty of TLC

$125 – New shoes or a set of spring or fall shots

$100 – Shipping from Parx Racing to one of our partner farms

$25 – One year’s worth of worming medicine

After making your donation, don’t forget to check with your employer’s human resources department to see if it sponsors a matching gift program. In many instances, companies will match the amount of your gift!
