Biography: Victor Molina has been living his childhood dream since he started riding in June of 1980. After finishing high school, he contracted with National Hall of Fame trainer Sydney Watters, Jr., who put Molina up on 1983 Champion 3yo Slew o’ Gold.

Molina came to Philadelphia Park with the help of agent David Anderson, who he worked with for over twenty years. In 1992, he made history in becoming the first local rider to win the Pennsylvania Derby (G2) aboard Thelastcrusade, who was also trained locally by Pam Shavelson. It was a far cry from his early days in Ecuador when Derbies were far from his line of vision. While Molina handles his own book now, his current personal goal is 3,000 lifetime wins.

About ten years ago, Molina joined forces with fellow Hall of Fame rider Tony Black. Together, they have been an integral part of ensuring that the Parx jockey colony is properly represented with management.

Molina is married to his wife Edlyn, and has three children: Victor, Dylan & Isabella.
