Biography: Stewart Elliott was born in Toronto, Canada in 1965, the son of a jockey and showhorse trainer. His family spent six years in Korea before returning to North America. He began riding professionally at 16.

Career Highlights: In 2004, became the first jockey in twenty-five years to win the Derby in his first appearance in the race. He and Smarty Jones went on to win the Gr.1 Preakness, and finish second in the Gr.1 Belmont. Elliott rode the Three-Year-Old Champion throughout the colt’s 8-race career. Won four races in one day at Aqueduct in 2008. Won three consecutive riding titles at Philadelphia Park. Scored his 3,000th career victory in May 2003 and his 4,000th win in 2009.
