Biography: A former jockey who rode through the 1930s, Marty Fallon joined the Army as a paratrooper during World War II. He trained California star Hillsdale to 13 stakes wins in 1958-59. He was best known around the racetrack for bringing up young contract riders, who he taught to work from hotwalker up to gallop boy before any of them could ride races. His riders included Tony Vega, Bobby Martel, Matt Vigliotti and Jake Nied, Jr.
